There are few artists who articulate their own personal and specific experiences with so much clarity and skill that they feel as if they were your own. Samia is one of those artists. Her writing alone puts her up in the ranks of artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Elliot Smith, while her self-awareness and unabashedly bold nature make her stand out in her own right.
Her debut record ‘The Baby’ is clearly a labor of love. Made by a circle of friends and collaborators, there’s great care given to each of the tracks. From the opening “Pool” which serves as an introduction to the journey we’re about to embark upon, to the 90s coming of age energy of “Fit N Full”, the comfortably familiar atmosphere of “Big Wheel”, and the pain behind the soft simplicity of “Winnebago”, every song creates a world and fully fleshed out story of its own.
