Slow Pulp has a knack for taking the deepest cuts of nostalgia and fusing them into music. Gearing up for their next EP, the Chicago by way of Madison, WI rockers balance their stripped down moments with heavier interludes. On their latest track, “High,” the band progresses into their noisier spectrum, layering guitars and distortion to truly register the sound of after effects. As Emily Massey sings, “And now i’m trying to find my way up / I wish i knew how,” a wave of understanding connects the band and the listener– we’ve all wanted to know how to crawl out of the hole we’ve put ourselves in. Regarding the track, the band added, “‘High’ and the rest of our upcoming EP was shaped by our time spent working with children as teachers and explores how we remember our first time experiences. We recorded these songs ourselves at a cabin in Michigan, and partially at our apartment in Chicago. It’s the first project we’ve worked on since we moved last September.”

Slow Pulp’s EP Big Day is out May 15th, and they’ll be opening for Remo Drive at Bowery Ballroom on June 8th. Check out the rest of their tour schedule here.
