After coming out of the gate with a certified HIT like “Chaise Longue” there were high expectations for Wet Leg to live up to. Naturally, they surpassed those expectations with their patented cool girl ease on their follow up single “Wet Dream”. Inspired by an ex who shared with vocalist Rhian Teasdale via text that he had had a dream about her, “Wet Dream” unfurls with a quiet, underlying ferocity bubbling underneath. “What makes you think you’re good enough to think about me when you’re touching yourself?” sings Teasdale in full Little House on the Prairie meets Lobster garb.
“Wet Dream” is another stunning video fitting into the aesthetic set by “Chaise Longue” perfectly with adding a touch of absurdity. Emphasizing the gross hunger of these men, not only sharing their desperation lyrically, but in their salivation over their literal and metaphorical meal (lobster) visually is a welcome power move. Without going to heavy into the bigger meaning of the track as this could very well just be a “fuck you” song and a great one at that, it is empowering to see two women making killer rock music and being sensual and cheeky for the sake of their own enjoyment and no one else.
