SUO’s “Mr AI” is a dance track for oddballs

“Mr. AI” off of SUO’s album Dancing Spots and Dungeons feels like a 1960s romance track. It’s the kind of diddy that makes itself for a good dance tune. And not the kind of dancing that is self-conscious or purposeful either. The kind that you just let yourself enjoy when you’re having too good of a time to think about it.

The video that accompanies the tune is right in line with SUO’s brand of quirky naturalism. Filmed in what I am pretty sure is Washington Square Park, the video features Saara Untracht- Oakner, of whom the abbreviation SUO refers, dressed as a very colorful David Bowie, boogying toward the character, surrounded by a group of equally flamboyant oddballs.

Saara has taken the very essence of what used to drag people out of their homes, toward the local dance halls, and straight onto the dance floor, and brought it into our modern time. That’s not to say that music doesn’t still do that. Just listen to her song. Or better yet, watch the video.

You can also catch SUO on tour in Europe supporting The Growlers
